Earlier this year, I was invited to speak at the Annual Animal Chiropractic ConferenceĀ - a fantastic event bringing together professionals who share one goal: helping animals move more comfortably and live happier, pain-free lives.
I presented alongside Ekico, the innovative team behind the Tendiboots⢠canine gait analysis systemĀ - wearable technology thatās changing the way we understand movement in dogs. Together, we showcased real-life case studies showing how combining objective gait analysisĀ with gentle McTimoney chiropractic techniquesĀ can make a genuine, measurable difference to comfort, balance, and mobility.
What is gait analysis?
Gait analysis is a clever, non-invasive way of measuring how your dog moves. At Ease In Motion, we use small lightweight sensors placed on your dogās legs while they move over a short distance. These sensors record precise information about how each limb moves - including stride length, speed, balance, and how much weight each leg bears.
The results appear instantly on our tablet or phone screen, giving us clear data to support what we see and feel during our hands-on assessment.
It allows us to pick up the tiniest signs of imbalance long before they become obvious to the eye.
Why we combine it with gentle chiropractic care
At the conference, I shared a case study showing how one gentle McTimoney chiropractic sessionĀ transformed a dogās movement pattern.
This lovely patient came to us showing mild pelvic crabbing and a shorter stride on one hindlimb. After assessing him with the Tendiboots⢠sensors, the data clearly showed less power and shorter stride length on that side.
Following a gentle, low-force McTimoney adjustment to rebalance the pelvis and spine, we repeated the gait test - and the improvement was instant.
š Before treatment:
Shorter stride length
Less push-off strength
Longer stance time on one side
š After treatment:
Stride length increased from 15 cm to 26 cm
Improved power and symmetry across all four limbs
Smoother, more coordinated movement
Within minutes, the difference was visible and measurable. The diagrams are simple yet informative, visualising the captured data.

Having these visuals make it even easier for owners to relate to our observations, they can see it in real time and we are able to track it more effectively throughout their rehab journey. Here's another format; as you can see, clearly improved movement from just one McTimoney chiropractic session:

What makes McTimoney chiropractic special?
McTimoney chiropractic uses extremely gentle, precise movements to help restore alignment and mobility through the spine and pelvis. Most dogs accept it happily - in fact, many relax so much they start to doze off during treatment. Itās designed to complement veterinary care, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, helping the body move more freely and reducing strain on joints and muscles.
What this means for your dog
By combining technology with touch, we can:
Detect tiny gait changes early - before they cause discomfort
Track progress throughout rehabilitation with objective data
Tailor every treatment plan based on evidence, not guesswork
Share clear, visual results with you so you can see your dogās progress too
Itās all part of our commitment to evidence-based, compassionate careĀ - using every tool available to give your dog the best possible outcome.
Every movement tells a story
Whether your dog is recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, or simply slowing down a little, understanding how they move helps us make more informed, gentle, and effective choices.
At Ease In Motion Canine Rehab, weāre proud to lead the way in integrating advanced gait analysis into everyday rehabilitation, across all modalities
